Globalization is a reality that affects our life in a positive sense through the strength of our internationality, lived as a resource and challenge, facilitating better communication and deepening the experience of solidarity among us and with others. But we are also aware of the negative consequences of globalization: increased poverty, exclusion, violence and war.

Houston, Texas, November 10, 2008… In honor
of Veteran’s Day, students at The Regis School of the Sacred Heart are participating
in a program that pays homage to our armed forces. Capturing the theme Freedom Is Not Free, the Regis community will reflect upon the
sacrifices that families make when their loved ones serve our country in far away
places.
In what is becoming an annual tradition at
Regis, middle school students consider the significance of Veteran’s Day and the
importance of patriotism. Each student creates a poster honoring a specific
veteran who has served our country. The posters are then displayed around the
perimeter of the school grounds for public viewing beginning Monday, November
10, through Wednesday, November 12.
At 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, the Scarborough
High School Junior ROTC Color Guard will present colors at the opening of the
Veteran’s Day Prayer Service. As part of this morning program, the students and
faculty acknowledge the Regis students who participated in the Operation Regis
Cares project when students supported GI’s serving in Iraq with “air-lifted” supplies of
comfort. Through family members, Regis
students and American soldiers have shared communication. This prayer service pays tribute to our
American spirit of serving our country.
