Ann Crawford-Roberts, a junior at Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, has been appointed as a Page for the upcoming session of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Princeton, N.J., resident was nominated by Rep. Rush Holt, who also served as a Page in 1963-64. Crawford-Roberts' nomination was accepted by Speaker Nancy Pelosi on January 2.
Crawford-Roberts will serve during the five-month spring term, which begins at the end of January. She will attend the House Page School in Washington DC, which educates the 60-70 pages that serve the House of Representatives during the term.
One of Stuart's outstanding students, Crawford-Roberts is active in a wide range of activities at the school. She is a member of Stuart's championship Field Hockey and Lacrosse teams, the TartanTones vocal ensemble, as well as many service clubs, including D.A.Y.S. (Diversity Awareness Youth Studies), the Red Cross Club, Dance Society and Link with Lima.
"I am looking forward to a very rich experience in Washington,"
said the 16-year-old. The work may not be the most glamorous, but the atmosphere is the most exciting thing I can think of," she said. On completion of her college studies, Crawford-Roberts plans on pursuing a career involving her passion for social activism and community outreach activities.
"We are very proud that Ann will be representing Stuart and the state of New Jersey as a Page in the House of Representatives," said Sr.
Frances de la Chappelle, Headmistress. "She is a leader and this unique opportunity will enable her to strengthen her skills and serve as a learning experience of a lifetime."
