"What is the good of teaching various subjects, of wasting time in
learning them, if at the same time we cannot teach children the words
of life and touch their hearts and their consciences?"
-St. Madeleine Sophie Barat
On October 17, 2006, over 700 members of the Sacred Heart Schools, Sheridan Road
Community in Chicago participated in the Stand Up Against Poverty/White Band
Day. We stood in support of the Millennium Development Goals.
We
stood:
For the young children who suffer and die every day
To encourage
our world leaders to keep promises to help the poor
To reach the Millennium
Development Goals and reach even higher
For action, not excuses
For
justice and equality
We wear White Wrist Bands to remind ourselves and
to teach others that we must Make Poverty History!
