Thought for the Day

We live much more under secular supervision than of old; it is unavoidable if we want to do our work for children: all the more necessary then to strengthen ourselves in truth, in personal humility, in independence of the world, in the tendency to hiddenness which is characteristic of God's work in the universe.

Greenwich has new Eucharistic Ministers Print E-mail
greenwich.gifEucharistic Ministers Commissioned at Mass of the Holy Spirit at Greenwich Sacred Heart's first liturgy of the new school year, the Mass of the Holy Spirit, was a joyful event and brought the entiregreenwich_1.gif School together. The Most Reverend William E. Lori, S.T.D., bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport, officiated at the Mass and blessed the group of 22 seniors who will serve the School this year as Eucharistic ministers.

The Mass of the Holy Spirit is a Mass in honor of the Holy Spirit. It is a day of great joy for the School and for the newly installed Eucharistic ministers.  After much formation and preparation, the Eucharistic ministers are commissioned to help the assembly receive the holy bread and sacred cup.  The Mass of the Holy Spirit marks the opening of the academic year and is a tradition in Sacred Heart schools, and in most Catholic schools, throughout the world.

The Eucharistic ministers are:
Lara Abdo, Brianna Aoyama, Loren Bakshi, Alaina Betancourt, Emily Bruno, Colleen Considine, Morgan Davis, Kelly Donlin,      Danielle Giorgio, Libby Henry, Sarah Julian, Meg Larson, Janie Lavin, Emily Leitner, Cassidy Mara, Clare McCarrick,          Kristen, Lizzy Rosato, Candice Seeger, Amy Traver, Keara Stewart, Alison Whelan

In their capacity as Eucharistic ministers, they will serve at all School liturgies by distributing the Eucharist.  In a larger sense, they serve as a ministry team at Sacred Heart and are role models for younger students.

Convent of the Sacred Heart is an independent Catholic college preparatory school enrolling girls from preschool through grade 12 at its campus on King Street in Greenwich.  For more information, please visit the website, www.cshgreenwich.org.
