Thought for the Day

We live much more under secular supervision than of old; it is unavoidable if we want to do our work for children: all the more necessary then to strengthen ourselves in truth, in personal humility, in independence of the world, in the tendency to hiddenness which is characteristic of God's work in the universe.

Sheila Haggas Receives Administrator of the Year Awardsheilatwo.gif

At the annual Archbishop's Dinner for Education held on October 13, Head of School Sheila Haggas received the Administrator of the Year Award. Escorted by Board President Ron Quinn, Sheila was presented the award after a slide presentation showing her at Duchesne. More than 700 people attended the event at the Omaha Hilton Hotel including 41 faculty and staff from the school. Two generous benefactors made it possible for many of the Duchesne contingency to attend by underwriting their dinners. Flowers and notes of congratulations poured into Sheila's office that week from well wishers. In a thank you note to the Duchesne Community, Sheila quoted the prayer she said as she fell asleep the night of the dinner, "Thank you God for blessing me with the Sacred Heart family, for being able to share my professional career with such devoted and dedicated colleagues, for the joy and hope that each Duchesne child brings into my life, and for the abundant blessings you continue to bestow on all of us who share in the vision of Saint Madeleine Sophie."
