Thought for the Day

We live much more under secular supervision than of old; it is unavoidable if we want to do our work for children: all the more necessary then to strengthen ourselves in truth, in personal humility, in independence of the world, in the tendency to hiddenness which is characteristic of God's work in the universe.

Donning the dress of their native lands, Sacred Heart families celebrated their various cultures with ethnic foods, music and dance on November 16 at the first annual International Taste of Sacred Heart. Coordinated by the Diversity Committee and Fine Arts Council, the event featured cuisine - both home cooked and donated by neighborhood restaurants - representing over 35 countries. Dancers from Nepal, the Loyola University Gospel Choir, the Casalando Latin Combo and a Fig Media DJ playing world music provided entertainment.

"The pride of our children and their parents was just brimming over," observed Sr. Susan Maxwell. " The entire event was so significant in terms of our vision for bringing together many different peoples, to grow together."
