Thought for the Day

We live much more under secular supervision than of old; it is unavoidable if we want to do our work for children: all the more necessary then to strengthen ourselves in truth, in personal humility, in independence of the world, in the tendency to hiddenness which is characteristic of God's work in the universe.

Convent of the Sacred Heart Greenwich, CT Print E-mail
GREENWICH, CT, December 28, 2005 The students, faculty and staff of Convent of the joan.jpgSacred Heart celebrated a milestone in the construction of the new Media Center/Library and Middle School with a "Topping Off" ceremony on December 15 on the site of the four-story, 30,817 sq. ft. building, which is under construction behind the main building. The School marked this significant event with a ceremony as it raised one of the final steel beams for the top of the structure. Student representatives, trustees and administrators signed the beam. Board Chair John N. Irwin III welcomed special guests, students, faculty and staff to the brief ceremony, which was held outdoors under cold, sunny skies. Special guests included trustees, alumnae board members and the three co-chairs of the $25 million capital campaign. Headmistress Joan Magnetti, rscj, offered her reflections before turning the program over to the students, who shared their hopes and dreams for the new building in a series of inspiring speeches.
