Thought for the Day

We live much more under secular supervision than of old; it is unavoidable if we want to do our work for children: all the more necessary then to strengthen ourselves in truth, in personal humility, in independence of the world, in the tendency to hiddenness which is characteristic of God's work in the universe.

Quotes: General Chapter of 1988, Society of the Sacred Heart Print E-mail

As we face the world of young people we appreciate their freshness and their vitality which direct us towards the future. We appreciate the values most important to them: solidarity, friendship and peace, their creativity and their ability to foster change. We also acknowledge that today perhaps the most vulnerable in our society are the young.
General Chapter of 1988, Society of the Sacred Heart

"Youth culture" impels us to devise new and creative educational spaces in our provinces, our communities, our institutions and our diverse apostolic activities. We respect their authenticity and their values, emphasize the importance of interpersonal relationships; we want our relationships with them to be truly reciprocal. We are moved by their woundedness and feel called to love them with a love which is freeing and strong. God's love, in Jesus, is the most radical transforming power for us, for them, for the world; a world with justice and sharing, which we wish to build together.
