Schools of the Sacred Heart, Grand Coteau, LA seek Head of School for St. John Berchmans School.
St. John Berchmans School is the boys’ division of Schools of the Sacred Heart, alongside the Academy of the Sacred Heart established for girls in 1821. The school is in its second year and is made up of grades preK through 5. The sixth grade will be added for the coming school year and one additional grade each year thereafter through high school. Schools of the Sacred Heart is the only single-gender school in the Acadiana area, is a member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools (www.sofie.org) and is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (www.isasw.org). The school’s educational philosophy is expressed in the Goals and Criteria for Sacred Heart Schools and promotes high academic standards.
St. John Berchmans is looking for a leader who exhibits a strong appreciation for and commitment to Catholic education, knowledge of curriculum and best current practices, an ability to guide and to collaborate with a talented faculty, insight into single-gender education for boys, excellent organizational, budgeting and communication skills and previous teaching experience. A pioneering spirit willing to help develop this growing school will also serve well.
The successful candidate will be a practicing Catholic, will have administrative experience, and will be certified in school administration. Applications are being currently accepted for this position which begins July 1, 2008.
