Regis School of the Sacred Heart Houston, TX seeks Director of Advancement
The Regis School was founded in 1990 to provide Pre-kindergarten through 8th Grade boys in Houston, Texas with a Sacred Heart education that emphasizes “a personal and active faith in God,” and fosters respect for intellectual values and gentlemanly etiquette. With an enrollment of more than 200 boys, Regis’s prepreparatory curriculum is designed to cultivate scholarly pursuit, social awareness, and personality responsibility.
The Director of Advancement is the administrative staff person responsible for the successful planning, implementation, management and supervision of all fundraising and donor relations activities associated with:
• Annual fund (The Regis Fund)
• Capital Campaign
• Grant Procurement
While reporting to the Head of School, the Director works collaboratively and maintains clear and regular communications with the school’s Board of Trustees (specifically the Advancement Committee), volunteer leadership, and donor prospects.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plans, executes, and manages the capital and annual fund campaigns designed to meet the goals and objectives of The Regis School as defined by the Head of School and the Board of Trustees. Campaign activities will include active donor prospecting, evaluation and assignment of prospects, presentations, gift cultivation and solicitation, foundation grants, and special events.
• Serves as the primary staff liaison with the Advancement Committee of the Board and all fundraising committees to coordinate fundraising meetings, prospect identification and research, prospect cultivation and solicitation, and donor stewardship activities.
• Serves as a resource to the Board of Trustees on all matters related to fundraising, making monthly reports to the Head of School and to the Board on the progress of the development efforts, including results to date, recent activity, priority contacts to be made and next actions.
• Writes funding proposals, supporting documentation, and other fundraising correspondence.
• Manages the stewardship, gift accounting, and reporting functions, ensuring that all donors receive personal and timely acknowledgement of their gifts.
• Directs and conducts appropriate and ethical prospect research and oversees a current database of all donors and prospective donors.
• Supervises an assistant and works in partnership with the Director of Events.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and motivate a broad spectrum of people including members of the Board, major donors, volunteers, community leaders, and staff.
• An aptitude for group and individual presentations and a capacity for event planning in conjunction with Capital Campaigns and annual fund stewardship.
• A working knowledge of the psychology, principles, and techniques of volunteer recruitment and management, major gift solicitation, and non-profit management.
• A proficiency in grant writing and an understanding of the process of foundation, corporation, and individual prospect research, cultivation, and solicitation.
• Familiarity with computers and fundraising software, as well as a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
IDEAL PERSONAL PROFILE
• Three years experience in professional fundraising and Capital Campaigns.
• Personal experience in major gift cultivation and solicitation.
• Excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills.
• Well organized, systematic thinker.
• Disciplined, goal oriented strong work ethic.
• B.A., B.S. or equivalent degree, and
• Commitment to the mission and values of The Regis School and the Sacred Heart Network of Schools.
